THE EVENT

A collaboration of offshore and dinghy sailors for the event of the Summer.

We will meet the other crews in Hamble at one of the many watering holes.

The rally will take place on Saturday, and we will be notified of the course a couple of weeks before the event.

Boats will be handicapped, and our esteemed Race Captain has declared that Spinnakers must be allowed.

We aim to finish off at Cowes about 15:30

For the evening’s entertainment, LCSC have booked the Cowes Corinthians Sailing club, for dinner followed by a prize giving and a disco (yes, they still say disco)

THE PLAN

  • 📍Start: Port Hamble Marina

  • Saturday morning, will be early briefing and off the dock for an expedition/pursuit race around the Solent with the Fastest boats (us) starting towards the back of the pack hunting down the boats ahead.

  • Sundays will be a more relaxed start for bacon sandwiches and a day of casual cruising or racing, depending on the weather and competition. Back to the dock early afternoon for wind-down drinks and departure.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • The WhatsApp group will help to coordinate lifts/train collections/drop-offs

  • You can stay on board on Friday and Saturday nights (bring bedding as race yachts have very simple facilities)

  • Accommodation ashore is recommended, though not required.

    • Previous offshore sailing experience required unless this is your first offshore race in the Fastnet Campaign
