This is a unique RORC inshore regatta that offers crews the chance for some early-season coastal racing, the Guingang Bowl is a 24-hour race starting and finishing in Cowes.

From Cowes, the fleet heads out into the channel, with the exact course shaped by the forecast. It might be down to Weymouth, and back across toward Brighton, or a creative loop taking in some scenic stretches and the odd navigational challenge.

Expect a few unusual features along the way to keep everyone on their toes and make it interesting.

We’re racing in this event as part of our offshore campaign but we have a couple of spaces for additional crew.

THE PLAN

  • 📍Start: Port Hamble Marina

  • JOIN THE BOAT: Hamble | Friday PM or Saturday 30th AM

  • OFF THE DOCK: Saturday AM

  • RACING: Saturday & Sunday

  • BACK ON THE DOCK: Hamble | Sunday, early afternoon

  • Previous experience required:

    • Previous offshore sailing experience required unless this is your first offshore race in the Fastnet Campaign

    • Experience of spinnakers/gennakers is handy

    • The race time depends on the weather forecast heavily but in our experience, with the early morning start, usually just over 24 hours to the Eddystone lighthouse if the wind is a usual Westerly, and faster on the way back downwind.
