The Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) TransAtlantic race is the longest and most recent addition to RORCs offshore racing programme.
Starting on Sunday 11 January 2026, this thrilling 2,995-nautical mile challenge will once again set sail from Calero Marinas Marina Lanzarote in the Canary Islands and their famously feisty acceleration zones before heading out across the pond (Atlantic). As always, it will give the navigators the question of sailing the Great Circle (the fastest route represented by the dashed arc on the RORC Map above) or heading South earlier and into the steadier and more reliable trade winds.
This race attracts a diverse fleet of boats from the Grand Prix record setters to those wanting the challenge of taking part for the first time and doing so in competitive company.
This year the race will finish in Antigua, West Indies. This exciting new destination ushers in a vibrant chapter in the race’s evolution, reinforcing its place as one of the great modern ocean classics and offering better logistics for race teams continuing on to Antigua for the RORC Caribbean 600.

Required experience
With a large focus of an event like this being on safety, the experience of the crew must meet a minimum requirement of 50% of the crew having sailed 500nm offshore in the last 18 months. We intend on sailing the boats to Lanzarote in Autumn/Winter which will provide the opportunity for this experience as we would like to have 100% of the crew meeting this minimum requirement.
Offshore experience is very much beneficial and booking a place on this race gets you on one of the training legs from the UK > Spain, and Portugal > Lanzarote. However, our whole idea is to take amateur crews and have a jolly old time while improving our skills!
Expectations
✅ Safety First. We maintain a high safety record and ultimately the skippers have the ultimate authority to take decisions with the crew’s safety as their number one priority.
🐬 No Fun No Point. We are a big fan of a stress-free and happy learning environment onboard. We always encourage a relaxed and chilled approach to all the crews learning and sailing.
👏 Team Effort. Although we welcome all levels of sailing experience on most of our sailing events, we encourage joining with the view of being part of a team and everyone taking part and pulling their weight.
Arrival in Antigua
Your boat berth is available in Antigua until the 30th January.
If places are available and you’ve not had enough of us yet you’ll be welcome to join us for RORC Caribbean 600 .
Depart the boat after the whole crew has given the boat a good clean after the crossing and the boat is prepared for the next adventure.
