Regatta Life
Fair winds and unforgettable nights, here’s why…
We love regattas!
Fun, Friendship, and a Splash of Friendly Competition
For us sailors, a regatta can be the ultimate getaway. A bit of social competition, days filled with laughter, music, spontaneous lunch break swims, and memories that last way beyond the finish line.
At LSS, we believe regattas are the perfect mix of adventure, community and celebration. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or just finding your sea legs, there's a place for you. It's not all about who crosses the finish line first—it’s about who’s still standing at the wrap party, who brings out the snacks at sea, and who manages to raise a sail and a glass with equal flair.
It’s a Lifestyle
Social racing and regatta weekends bring together people from all walks of life, united by a love of being out on the water without taking it too far offshore. The magic of a regatta is that one minute you’re trimming sails, the next you’re dancing at the bar, or drifting off under stars with music still playing softly in the distance. It’s the kind of experience where you make fast friends and even faster memories.
We like to call these the “behind the sails” moments. Like the evenings we caught blazing sunsets in Antigua, rum flowing as the sky turned pink and gold. Or when we accidently gate crashed a St Tropez beach club party where dress codes were chic, the rosé flowed and we wore our race stash.
The Regattas We Love (and You Will Too)
Here’s a look at some of our favourite summer regattas where we race, rose and yes, acquire the occasional trophy!
- Taittinger Regatta – UK
Held in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, this regatta combines classic British charm with buckets of bubbly. Sponsored by Champagne Taittinger, you can imagine the mood: elegant, cheeky, and unforgettable. The racing is brilliant, but the after-race garden parties and pontoon BBQ’s are where the real magic happens.
"I came for the champagne, stayed for the sailing," said Amy, one of our crew from last summer. "Also quite enjoyed my accidental swim off the pontoon on the first night!"
- St Tropez Regatta – France
Stylish, sun-soaked, and oh-so-French. This regatta is where Riviera glamour meets serious sailing. Expect to see jaw-dropping yachts, incredible food, and evenings that stretch into dawn. 2025 is our first time to join, but we’ve heard too much about the “sardines and rose on Tuesday night…” to miss out again!
- Antigua Sailing Week – Caribbean
Sun, steel drums, sweet trade winds, lobster season, cold Carib beers. Antigua Week is a proper sailor’s carnival. With boats from all over the world and a party scene that’s legendary, it’s the kind of place where racing hard and playing harder is the norm.
"One minute you’re navigating serious gusts, the next you’re dancing barefoot on the yacht club lawn" recalled Katie, who joined us for the 3rd time last year. "Best week of my life, hands down."
- Cowes Week – UK
Back on home turf, Cowes Week is a rite of passage for any British sailor. It's one of the oldest and most celebrated regattas in the world. While the competition can be fierce, so is the social calendar. From yacht club dinners to dockside BBQs, there’s never a dull moment.
Join the Crew
The beauty of social regattas is that they’re for everyone. You don’t need years of experience, just a good attitude and a willingness to get stuck in. At London School of Sailing, it’s easy to take part. We organise the boats, the crews, the training sessions (with just the right amount of seriousness).
We believe sailing should be welcoming, inclusive, and—most importantly—fun. Our crews are a mix of ages, backgrounds, and skill levels, united by a shared love for the sea and a refusal to take ourselves too seriously.
So whether you’re dreaming of your first race or you’re an old hand looking for a new adventure, come sail with us. We promise good vibes, great company, and plenty of “behind the sails” moments you’ll never forget.
