ST BARTHS RUM RAID

This is a replacement event for the Les Voiles St Barths Regatta which was cancelled due to lack of sponsorship

🗓️12th - 21st April 2024

💷 £1995+

📍 Antigua | English Harbour

Due to one of the Caribbean’s favourite events of the season being cancelled, LSS are teaming up with other boats that were entered and have decided to go ahead and throw ourselves a substitute ralley anyway. See the itinerary but together with a few other racing yachts from the circuit, we’ll spend a week enjoying some fun, casual racing primarily out of the bougie and beautiful St.Barth’s, but with some bonus adventures thrown in.

This is a rare opportunity for newer racers to get a taste of the Caribbean racing world, without the intensity of an actual regatta! We’ll have plenty of time for on-board coaching and more opportunities to explore ashore (on 2 of the Caribbean islands!!) than the usual regatta schedule tends to allow.

  • (The start and end are set, some details of the middle are subject to change)

Friday, 12th April: - Meet and Greet

Crew to join Emily of Cowes in English Harbour for dinners & drinks with other Antigua starting boats

    Saturday, 13th April:

Crew join Emily of Cowes in the morning for Initial orientation, safety briefing & settling in with a short afternoon sail

    Sunday, 14th April: - Training day 1

Morning training shakedown session, anchor for lunch & a swim off Pidgeon beach, back to English Harbour for dinner

    Monday, April 15: - Training day 2

Weather conditions permitting on time of departure, but an 85nm sail, hopefully reaching for dinner in Gustavia, St.Barth’s.

Tuesday, April 16: - Race Rally Day 1

Casual race out of St.Barth’s, aiming for a swim stop at Anse du Colombier before heading back to Gustavia.

Wednesday, 17th April: - Race Rally Day 2

Casual race out of St.Barth’s, aiming for a swim stop at Ile du Forchue before heading back to Gustavia.

Thursday, 18th April: - Lay Day

Great opportunity to explore ashore in beautiful St.Barth’s. Hiking, surfing, beach lounging, shopping, eating… it’s all on the menu!

Friday, 19th April: - Race Rally Day 3

Last day of ‘round the rocks’ racing out of St.Barth’s, finishing with a group happy hour picnic on Shell Beach.

Saturday, 20th April: - Race Rally Day 4

All boats set off bright and early for the 85-mile race back to English Harbour, Antigua, arriving at sunset in time for the traditional tot of rum.

Sunday, April 21: - Last Day

Final debrief, customs clearance & crew party (Shirley Heights)

  • Emily of Cowes is only able to sleep 6 people comfortably in 3 double cabins (although can take more while at sea) so accommodation onboard isn’t included.

    • In Antigua, there are numerous good value places to stay ashore in and around English Harbour/ Antigua Yacht Club.

    • In St Barths, good value accommodation is rare, and so we are aiming to charter a comfortable 40+ ft Catamaran which will form the mothership HQ of LSS during the regatta which we expect to come to around £500pp.
